Nipper, the RCA Victrola dog. This statue sits atop what was once the RCA building in Albany NY.

Nipper was built in 1954 and fell into disrepair after rca left. A few years back a moving and storage co. bought the building and restored him.Ther was a large victrola next to him but that couldn't be saved. He sits atop a 4 story building and he stands 25 feet tall. Weighs in at 4 tons ( now thats a bigdawg:-)). What you see in his ear is an aircraft beacon light. Dan

Cool pic, Dan. I always liked Nipper, my Wife and I were just talking about him the other day. Thanks for sharing. I'll bet that first shot was with the TCON, LOL.

Good shot Dan, I'm glad to get an update on Nipper. Had seen the RCA dog but did not know his name.

And the "subtitle" of the RCA logo was "His Master's Voice."

Thanks all....Bob actually both shots were with the Tcon. I just forgot to zoom and had to crop out the vignetting,LOL. I'll get used to it. Can't expect us young folks to remember all the time.

Tom, thats right...I did some googling and learned that the original ad idea had the dog and victrola sitting atop a coffin, hence the reason he was listening to his masters voice..They quickly dropped that idea( Nowadays they would lock you up for an ad like that:-)). I take no responsibility forhow factual that really is.

Sandy we all knew you were'nt old enough to remember:-)but I agree.they were good ole days
