Taken with the DX7440 and a rather specatular highlight blowout.

I only took this one photo all day for the book, I just thought you might like to see one of the messed up photos that's going in.

Yes, that's the same one from a different angle.
It was taken at 10.40pm this evening and I knew it would blow out the highlights, but I didn't expect the car to drive along that road, it made the picture better.

Oh well, looks like I'll need to do this properly now.

Neat pic, Cold Snail...you know you could tell people that don't know where you live that there was a huge fire across the road and that the light trails were from the firetruck rushing to save it, LOL. Seriously though, I like it.

I went back to have another go, this time with a mere 24 seconds on the clock.

I prefer the other one, but that blowout was too much.

I agree; one option would be to blend the exposures. It's such a nice scene. Difficult to balance, though.

This is a blend of your twoshots. (I hope you don't mind) I lined the two up with the second shot behind, and erased the blown out parts from the first shot.

Cheers.

I have played with this shot in PSP, but yours is much better than my feeble attempt.

I'll go back and get it right from the camera soon, but when I took the first one, I was in a rush so I had no practice with the exposure.
I think I know the best setting before going up there, ISO100, f/2.8, 64 seconds and a brick for those church lights after about twenty seconds.
