If she is buying at B&H Photo, she can ask this question right at the counter. B&H is one of the best photo stores in New York and their advice is almost always good.

Lots of years ago, I took the advice of one of their counter guys on a used lens for my Nikon FG (film) camera... it was a brand I'd never seen nor heard of, Kiron. He said it was good. Five years later, it began appearing on "cult classic" lens lists -- it's superb.

BUT, if she is buying at, for example, 47th St Photo, or any of the other hole-in-the-wall New York discount places, I'd strongly recommend buying only the Kodak.

Just my opinion.

Dave

One vote for the Kodak KLIC5001 battery. I had a DX78440 for nearly a year using that battery together with the one which came with the camera never and had any kind of power problem.

Think about getting a memory card, as well. The standard speed Sandisk or Lexar will work as well as any of the higher speed cards in that camera.

I'd go with the genuine kodak klic-5001 myself. Always best to stay with genuine parts, so as not to void the warranty.

Hey thanx to all of you guys, i`ll take your advice, i going to tell my friend to buy the Kodak one, yes, i heard that same opinion of B & H, and thats why i`ve decide to buy there, nice web, nice prices and also they got a free number for my country (Uruguay) to call for free and a guy taking spanish (my native language) answered to my questions.

I decide also to buy a 512 mb SD card (San Disk)

you can see it here --> http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search

it`s the cheaper of 512 mb ($ 45.95) , i will use the video recording feature, doesn`t mutter if the Sd Card isn`t a high speed one ?

thanx!

With the Kodak you will not notice much difference in the speed. I've got a 512 Sandisk and have not had any problems. I get about 400 photo's before it is filled. As for the battery get the Kodak. B&H is tops as far as I'm concerned!!
