I've a friend who has just purchased a Fujii, but hasn't used it enough to tell me how he likes it. You know me I like the Dx6490. Only thing is, I wish it had some of the features of the DX7440, such as extended time in timed photos.

I knew you would want the 7440 after seeing what it could do.

I have used the Fuji S5000 before and was happy with it's handling, but I believe they lost the RAW option on the S5500.

If you are not that fussed about the zoom, a S7000 is a mean camera and the TCON-17 goes straight on.

But then again, Kodak have a new camera on the bench as I type that will be replacing the Z7590 at the top of the prosumer tree.

Glad to put a little mirth in your day, Paul!! I don't want the 7440!! I want some of it's features on the DX6490!! I'd love it if the camera was a little larger and had more ZOOM!!!

You're a zoom addict Dawg.

I might get another 6490 one day, I do miss my old one.
(I'll keep quiet about Fuji's needing XD cards and more expensive card readers)

The friend that just bought a fujii was mentioning that!! Don't worry about it Paul, I'm married and harrassment is normalcey for me. I really did like the daughter's camera but she wished she had a little more zoom as well! As for being a zoom addict, Taint so!! I just like to get as much from a camera as is possible. If Kodak offered a 20x opticle zoom and all the other features of the 7440 , might want to add raw or some better way to save the data, plus a faster processor. I'd probably buy it. Until then the old 6490 will do. And do it well!!!

You don't really need a RAW shooting camera. I have hundreds of NEF (Nikon RAW) files all stored in various folders on my PC and hate having to look through them.

One day raw converters will be fast, but at the moment it's painful opening folders if you take more than 50 photos.

If I got rid of my Kodaks ,and bought a Fuji ,I wouldn`t be able to post on this forum, nuf said.

The only gripe I have about the 6490 is the time it takes to process the pics,

and not bein able to see through the viewfinderwhen the shutter is pressed.
