I know BigDawg has posted some sets of with/without TCON, as have some other members, and they will know best the names of the previous posts to point you at.

Last week I was doing some digital zoom tests with my 7440 vs Kodak x2 Tele, and decided to repeat them with the 6490 & TCON - don't know if these will help your decision.

Rather boring test image, but I think it serves the purpose.

Base image, 6490 x10, F5.7 to try and optimise lens performance:

Crop from same, resized using XP-resizer to match other tests:

6490 x10 x1.6 Digital Zoom to try & match TCON, same aperture:

6490 x10 x1.7 TCON, same aperture:

No substiture for using glassware !

£68 sounds good - I think I paid about the same - sometimes seen them a bit cheaper on eBay, but then you're taking a chance - better to buy new...

Like Ian said, no substitute for glass. The tcon-17 zoom shot!

You'll have more fun with this lens than most any other accessory you could buy for the 6490!

First three was before i had the tcon17..........

These next 3 shots were with the tcon,,,,as you can see they lose little in sharpness,,,if any,,,,great bang for the buck....
