Paul, I think you are hotter for these camera's than me!!LOL I don't really blame you. It's about time that one of the oldest and largest camera manufaturers got off their duff and sold something like this.

Looks like my next camera is going to be a Kodak P880, in about 50000 years when I can afford it :-D. Let's see, who thinks I should drop out of college to pay for this instead?

You could have a rich relative wiped and inherit enough.YOU could, but I come from a long line of Church mice!!!!! Lets see ........... nah!! It'll be a while for me. You'd best stay in school and when you grad. get a job where you can afford the newest one available then.

I asked someone whose oppinion I respect about the two new Kodaks and for what it's worth, this was his reply:

I had a look at the the Kodak P series models and came to the following conclusions

• The P880 is a decently specced cam with a great 24mm wide lens and 8 megapixel sensor. However it only zooms to 140mm and so will only appeal to a certain audience…and it has no image stabilisation…though to be fair, it probably doesn't need it with that zoom.
• The P850 is 5 megapixel with a lens to match the FZ20 and image stabilisation, though it doesn't seem to have any manual focus abilities and doesn't give f2.8 through the range and NO BLOODY AF ASSIST LAMPS!!

They do seem to have some plusses though

• TTL flash
• Flash sync speed of 1/000sec on the P850

The P880 seems one to consider if you need wideangle. The P850 seems like a FZ20 wannabe and I suspect both will not fare too well when compared to the new FZ30 http://www.dpreview.com/articles/panasonicfz30/

That FZ30 link doesn't seem to mention video except for one little "9-pixel" blurb at the top. I think a full sized 30fps video on the P880 is pretty darn impressive... unless Panasonic has some good video capablities, I would still choose the Kodak over it without question.

I guess if video is an important factor then you may be right.

My D70 has an "Auto" option, but I think the dial must be broken, it seems to be stuck on either A or M depending on the circumstance.
