And also in the next firmware release, I wish the lens could retract back to the body, in review mode, to avoid damage.

That's strange, I made a Darwin (OS X console) cmp with the old and new 1.0.6 and it returned 0 ._.
Whatever... I hope Kodak'll release a firmware with a real difference in the sharpness/compression option of the cam -.-
My download dates are Aug 17 & Oct 25.

A trick (I found out from another forum) -

Turn on your camera in Favorites mode (in other words, slide the switch on the side of the camera to Favorites before you turn it on), and the camera will turn on without the lens extending. Then push the Review button, and you are reviewing pictures with the lens retracted into the body.

Here comes a brave white mouse who dared to try the seemingly re-release of fw 1.0.6!!!

File sizes are the same. I did a Windows "comp" and found 4 bytes diff (non-ASCII).

Just flashed again, and still cannot notice any functional/quality improvements ???
IMHO, if the change just 4 bytes, I don't think will have any signaficant improvement

Now that fw 1.0.6 has been re-flashed onto my v550 for 3 weeks.

So far so good. Nothing surprising.

And also just upgraded to ES 5.2.

My most wanted feature is to playback the ES-edited movie in the v550 itself. Havn't tried such yet. Maybe other new features in ES5.2 are for other newer Kodak DC e.g. p880/850.

Just noticed an improvement in ES 5.2

- it can now work with Quicktime 7.0 (previously ES 5.0.3 could not edit movies after you upgraded QT from 6.5 to 7.0).
