I bought a V550 a few days ago and was using it extensively yesterday. I noticed that the camera starts to feel noticeably hot to the touch, and somewhat uncomfortable to hold, after a few minutes of use. It's particularly noticeable near the bottom and to the right of the LCD screen, coincidentally where the battery is housed.

I'm concerned it's a sign of a faulty battery, or worse, a manufacturing defect. Then again, this is the first ultra-compact camera I've bought, so poor heat dissipation might just be a common side effect of the small size.

I didn't find any relevant info about this on Google. Anyone else notice the heat? Is it normal, or should I be concerned/exchange it?

Thanks.

tyyreaun, Here's a link to an earlier post that discusses the same issue: http://stevesforums.com/forums/view_...mp;forum_id=18. My wife bought a V550 yesterday and I noticed that it got a bit warm also.

In case anyone else has noticed this - I'll give it a bump.

What's your environment temperature?

I said in Syoggy's link earlier that was normal to get warm, whenever the env temp got above 30°C.

And I didn't notice malfunctioning or degradation in quality even after it got warm. I take a lot a movies (that's why I bought v550) which give a lot of loading (non-stop) to the GPU inside the DC.
