Hi! I just found a freeware application that converts the .MOV videos from the V550 to .AVI videos... not to worry as this does not recompress the video!!!

After trying this I have to say I am much more please with the videos from the V550! I think Quicktime wasn't working very well on my computers, because whenever I filmed a panning motion the video displayed on my PC would show straight vertical lines cracking and produce a very unpleasant result!

Try it yourself... http://mp4cam2avi.sourceforge.net/

FYI - I hate Micro$oft for it's virtual monopoly on almost all O/S and app s/w, except for this one:
Windows Media Encoder, bundled with Win XP, free of charge

I could also convert v550 QT movies, not to AVI, but to WMV
You may also control the bit-rate of the WMV to fit diff filesize/quality situations..

For the vertical lines for the original QT format, I haven't seen them on my PC:
PM 1.7GHz, ATi Radeon 9600 w/ 64MB

I've rather seen horiz upper/lower 2-chunked video output for fast moving screens. I was using Apple QT 6.5 or 7.0 players.

Then I switched to VLC player:

And I have not seen the chunking anymore.

but when converting to wmv you always lose quality ( REENCODING ) but this program doesn't reencode and quality always OK! it's big diference
