Is it just my camera, or do all dx6490 cameras have an annoying habit of recording the noise from the autofocus system when taking a movie?

They disabled the zoom so as not to have the sound of the motor when taking a movie, but that seems idiotic when most of what I can hear on a movie is the sound of the autofocus system whirring away all the time.

Cool, at least its normal!

Wish they would offer a firmware fix to allow zooming, there excuse of the motor noise being why they disable it does not hold water when you consider the noise from the autofocus. It would be such a simple thing for them to release also, but a great improvement!

I'am glad to see this bought up. The noise is a pita, but not having zoom for movie mode ?????? Had I known this I don't think I would have bought this camera ( 6490 ). If you find away to get the zoom to work, please post it.

I don't think there's a camera out there that handles both tasks well. Even the best video cams won't give you a great still photo. Someday I'm sure we'll see a camera with a good combo of both still and video, but till then you have to decide which is more important to you ( or buy one of each:-))
