After reading this commentary on shutter lag I picked up my P850 walked outdoors and thought I'd try full zoom to see what turned out. Ok full optical zoom pointing all over the neighborhood I could not get mine to take evan a count to one before the focus was set. So I came inside doors and blinds closed and tryed it with no zoom. Not evan a second to get a focus. So I tryed full optical zoom. Not evan a count to two before the focus was set. Then I went into a dark bedroom closed the door and there is was, just over a count to two before the focus set.

Now if I were grabbing the cam to try to catch something that was about to happen or just happening I may say the lag is long or short. I just don't shoot that way. So I've not tryed to capture a happpening monment to say if I got the shot or not.

"1) What about noise?"

Here is a picture of the moon. I'm using full zoom optical and digital with the OLY TCON 1.7X teleconverter.

Excellent moon shot! How much digital zoom did you use on that, and did you even need to with the TCON?

Also what settings did you use to get that shot - F-stop, shutter, etc?

Hi,

I thank you all so much for your answers, especially blinddawg.

I think sincerely to buy a P850, especially after I've seen that wonderful picture of the moon and after sw2cams' experience with the autofocus.

As the cameras are on the USA market a long time before being out on the German market I've a question:
Is there any review of the P850 in any US- magazine? I don't see any review of this camera in the internet.

I've heard of blurry display at once after shooting the picture. Is this right? Is this annoying or can you get accostumed to it?

Thanks in advance.

Regards Peter

... perhaps I 've made a mistake with the translation.

Is it right to say : I think seriously or I think sincerely? (sometimes it's very difficult with the idioms).

Regards peter

techgeek419 wrote: Pana2005, I posted these review links the day after your orginal post.

You can read about it forever, but until you have it in your hands and get to use it, its hard to draw any real conclusions.

Just purchase one froma reputable retailer that has a good return policy, and if you dont like it, then send it back to them and try something else.

(oh and if you really think that is a moon, I got some cheap land for sale)

techgeek,

I've seen your links.

I meant "serious" reviews of the p850 with checked values, but only personal opinions of buyers.

I was convinced that it was the moon.... LoL

Regards Peter
