Nice shot. notice some catchlight in the eye so I would thin it was a flash shot. Shallow depth so it looks like 10x zoom. Was it shutter preffered?

Whats the low down on the making of the shot.:?

I see many birds that bulking up on various berries in the trees for their migration flight but I am too lazy to take the camera (Dx7444) off auto and I often see that that was a bad choice.

Been seeing small woodpeckers, brown or common creepers, bluejays etc.

When I go for a walk I watch for fruit bearing trees and any kind of movment in the branches

I regret that my camera has such a weak little peanut of a flash.

Thanks for the kind comments.

You asked for it Bill. No set up for this shot. It was time for me to go back to work from lunch and I was putting my camera away. This guy just flew in next to my car so I had to get out the camera again risking being late for work. He was in the shade so I knew I need some fill light so yes the flash was used.

Focal Lenght 63mm (I think that is full zoom 10x)
Exp Time 1/350
Aperature f/3.7

In other words, Full Auto. Not enough time for me to take the time to go manuel. Thanks for asking. I just got lucky for once.

Thanks Jim!

I was never one to ask what F stop / shutter speed did you use. I always had a poor opinion of photographers that asked that and would say that the aperture and shutter speed does not always work depending on the light.

What I would like to know about photos postedis:

was it the max optical zoom range (which is...)

what laux. lens or was a dscope used

was the camera on auto or what other mode or priority

was it hand held

was a flash used

what iso (formerly asa)

This kind of info on the image could help change ones photo tactics improve or justify a change of shooting style.
