I just coming back from the shop, trying P850. Try to shoot with 12x zoom and also ISO 400, the result look very clear, seem noise at ISO 400 also acceptable. I'm still considering for this few days b4 finalize my purchase.
Look like a great camera to me, few feature that I like: IS, 12x zoom, AR 3:2, Hot shoe.

Wow, I'm amazed by the knowledge. Thanks for taking your time with that!

The plus sides of the z7590 weren't too convincing, however. Sure, I'd take it if they were the same price... but:

z740 + 256mb memory card + camera bag = 264 €

z7590 + 256mb memory card + camera bag = 339 €

So at least from the shops I'm buying from, the price difference is nowhere near the quality difference.

It's understandable that it might behardto justify spendingthe extra 75 €
when they appear comparable.

I used both and, IMOthe 7590 is definitely worth the difference.

It may be helpful te see the results of each unit first hand.
Do you havea department store or camera shop nearby to try each unit?

Also, I would avoid bundled packages, since you can actually canpay more.
A memory card and bag can be found very inexpensively.

* Here is a price breakdown *

z740 = £157.44

z7590 = £205.59

256 SD Memory Card = £16

find a bag easily for under £15

BOTTOM LINE COST

7590 + Card + Bag = £236.55

thats even less than the 264 € for the z740 "package"

(*UK prices used in example*)

Ah, but those are actually really good packages. The Z740 costs 252 euros without the extra stuff... so 12€ for a 256mbcard and a bag... Not saying the camera is especially cheap here in Finland (compared to lowerprice countries like the US), but packageitems are at this shop.

Not sure how you are counting here, but 236,55 pounds is 345€.
So it's actually more expensive than if bought from Finland!

You are making me worried about buying this camera when you seem so certain the z7590 is quite a bit better... Still, it comes of to me as if the only thing better with thez7590 is thatitmight have a better lense and that its lens cap will not pop off, but that doesn't justify the price difference.

I'm sorry, but it seems to me as if the z7590 simply has got a better reputation, i.e. it's more of a classic and proven camera while the z740 is a model that is newer and mostly just feels and lookscheaper (i.e. has less prestigie value).
What I'm trying to say is that if there truly is a big difference between the two, you mustbe able to put it in words.I.e. that the z740 has worse image quality, is worse at the full zoom photos... or something concrete. It can't be just "worse".

Don't want to come out as stubborn, just very confused.

nothing to worry about my friend...don't lose any sleep.
I mean it's only a camera purchase.
And if you get it from a reputable retailer you should be able to return it if you are dissatisfied.

yes the 7590 has been out longer and has a better reputation.
Yes it has been proven over time.
If that doesnt matter to you, then get the z740.

Is the image quality "worse"?
What one person's view of "worse" can be different than another's view.
i.e. there are some thatfeel the z740 is a nice camera.

Isimplyoffered my personal first hand"opinion" of how I believethey compare.
And it's just that..an "opinion". :love:

This thread topic started as "p850 vs dx7590".
but its moving to"7590 vs. z740". :?
not that can be confusing in itself.

MY FINAL WORD

If price is your PRIMARY concern on buyin a camera,
AND the z740 is the LEAST expensive option for a Kodak high zoom camera,
THEN you should buy the z740.

Just tryin to help. Hope you can make an informed, yetsuitabledecision.
