Hi all, and Merry Christmas

After lurking on this forum for a while and learning a bit I made the plunge and purchased a P850.

Now I have what I'm sure is a simple question. Page ii in the manual shows the memory card door open to the right, but my problem is that I can't seem to open it, and there are no instructions. I certainly don't want to pry it open and break something so I've come to the best source I can think of, which are you guys.I'd appreciate a bit of advice so I can get to the business of learning my new toy. Just how does this thing open?

Thanks in advance,

Rick Berber

Let's not forget...He is the reason for the season.

Hi Rick, and congrats on your new camera.

To open the SD card door you need to pull it towards the back of the camera, and at the end of its slide it will pop to the right. To close it, first rotate it back to the left, and then push it towards the front of the camera until it clicks.

Good luck,
Ken

If you are ever unable to get on line to reach this forum you can always use your owners guide as a fall back.

If you can not open the memory card door how will you ever be able to operate the camera?

I did find this door alittle tricky at first glance.

Most doors would appear to open straight out.
But on this one you have to pull/slide the door forward (toward you),
then it will "swing" open.

it's actually a well engineered design if you really think about it.

The first 850 I looked at I had trouble too but after seeing how it worked, the next time was a snap.
