1. 1.60 MB
2. 1.70 MB
3. 1.75 MB
4. 1.80 MB
5. 1.87 MB

These were a simple shot inside a poorly lit room, all were underexposed and shot in 5.0MP Fine.

Ron will take care of you, it's probably a simple menu that needs a tweak.

All images were captured of the subject, same (poor) lighting, no flash. This was of a fairly dark image (especially with no flash) so the file sizes are smaller to begin with but you can definitely still see a notable file size difference.

BEFORE Reset:

4.5 mp FINE

Program mode:

Single Exposure: 1.49 mb

First Burst Mode:
1: 740 kb
2: 744 kb
3: 745 kb
4: 742 kb
5: 738 kb

Auto mode:

Single Exposure: 1.27 mb

First Burst Mode:
1: 554 kb
2: 554 kb
3: 567 kb
4: 570 kb
5: 557 kb

AFTER Reset:

4.5 mp FINE

Program mode:

Single Exposure: 1.56 mb

First Burst Mode:
1: 727 kb
2: 720 kb
3: 720 kb
4: 716 kb
5: 717 kb

Auto mode:

Single Exposure: 1.5 mb

First Burst Mode:
1: 758 kb
2: 764 kb
3: 768 kb
4: 774 kb
5: 778 kb

As you can see the reset did not help. When I tried the same test in 4.5 mp STANDARD I came out with a Single Exposure file size of around 1 mb and Burst exposures around 700 kb. In 4.5 mp BASIC I came out with both Single Exposure and Burst exposures of around 700 kb. It seems that the camera is some how forcing BASIC compression on Burst Exposures regardless of the compression setting in the menu.

There's a couple of Kodak people posting on these boards, they do a superb job looking after us.

I knew about Ron but haven't seen anyone else. Thanks for responding to these questions Ron. I've enjoyed your posts in the past and have learned quite a bit from them. But Paul would say not enough as I keep trying to eat my size thirteens!! LOL
