Regardless of how many mega pix your camera has is it safe to say that when you do a pano of 3 or four exposures to make a final picture that the final pano image will use a greater number of pixels then if the image was made in one exposure???

A interesting test could be taking a tele-aux lens shot of the moon made with 4 exposures, 2 over 2 to form a big square like shape

With some overlap will the picture be tighter looking????
