I call it a red headed woodpecker, but who knows I may be wrong, he was hammering on the tree though....looks like the one you posted dawg





Woops, bad eye sight and clumbsy fingers on the keyboard, I guess I cant edit the title, suppose to read Dawg...sorry dawg!

Thanks for not barking or lifting your leg..LOL and of course for the comment on the photo, I didnt know tht there were that many types of redheads...I just hought there were only one. Sure looks the same though dont it. No matter, it sure is a beautiful critter.

Actually Allez, it's a red bellied woodpecker. The belly patch is hardly
distinguishable, execpt on close inspection. I guess they have to be dead to really
tell. BTW, are you in Springfield ? Just moved to Ft. Worth after over 15 years in Mt. View. S.C. Mo. Ozarks.

Bill... maybe with some luck you can capture a pic of the rare and elusive NYC rock pigeon! I'm going out during my lunch break today to try and get a shot of a buzzard. They usually lurk around the residential construction sites scavenging for road kill.
