Tracy get the thirty dollar one. You'll be a lot happier with it than the cheap one. Your macro's will start to be easier to get also! Happy close ups!! LOL

When a cheap one has to be replaced it is no longer cheap. It becomes a "rip off".

Listen to Bill. Like me he probably has been there. I now own the cheapest I've ever owned and it is a thirty dollar one. But the worst I ever had was one a friend gave to me that he had purchased for around twenty dollars at Wal-Mart. I didn't let it stay in the house for long as it wouldn't even keep the camera upright. Kept tilting over! The thirty dollar one I now have works just fine but is not as smooth panning as I would wish. I have to tell you money spent on quality here is money well spent. A really good tripod will outlast several cameras! I've got my eye on a Slick brand tripod but I won't say for how much. The wife might be peeking over my shoulder and I woulcn't want to give her a stroke! LOL
