Why not purchase the Nikon 8400 which actually does a great job and looks like this:

Or a DSLR for only a bit more money.

My dx6490 is almost 1 year old...

I already have the tcon17 and other filters!!!

I will probably purchase the P880 this summer

Why?

-24mm wide-angle

-8mp:G

-5.8x optical (10x with my tcon17) and enough mega-pixels to crop some pictures:-)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't whant to buy a DSLR because I want to use my tcon17 on my next camera!!!

I am looking to the P880 because I think that its a good camera for its price...

-If Ido a 2x cropwith the P880 and the Tcon 17 I will get a 4mp picture withaproximatively 20X zoom!!!

-My DX6490 only give me a 17x optical zoom for my 4mp picture

With the P880 i will get a good zoom range anda goodwide-angle!!

With a DSLR, I would have to buy many lenses to have these features...

Hope you understand what I am trying to say!

Boily, I fully understand where you're coming from. That's why I am not investing in any accessories for my P850, save for the lens adapter and a cheap neutral filter to protect the lens mechanism from the severe sandy windstorms we have here from February through June. I plan on hanging on to the P850 for a year, then stepping up to a good DSLR. I used to borrow my boss's Nikon D100 for photographing our real estate listings and I got very spoiled by it.

Boily you will be able to use the zoom of the p880 with the TCON17 but you won't be able to use the very wide angle of the p880 with the TCON. It will mean you have to zoom on out when the TCON is attached. How far you have to zoom until you lose vignetting is not known by me. I'm still thinking myself about buying the p880 for some of the same reasons you gave. I'd like that extra wide angle especially with the schnieder wide angle lens attached to get those wide vista landscapes I like so much. But at the same time there are some landscape shots that need the extra zoom to get. Like you I'm waiting for someone with these lens combo's to show how it works!! Oh yeah I won't be getting rid of my DX6490. It would be like cutting off a part of my anatomy. LOL

Wide angle photos like the one attached are fun. I like them a lot.

However, as soon as you put that lens adapter on the P-880, you get serious vignetting. Yes, it most probably willwork fine at full zoom with the Tcon. But when you want wide angle shots, that lens adapter has to come off.

Then you wouldn't gain anything with the Schnieder wide angle lens?

With any camera, when you are using the tcon17, you need to take off the lens to take wide-angle pictures!!!

And an adventage with the P880 is that you don't need to put on a wide-angle lens...
