You have to check this thread on DPReview it should answer you P880 tcon question.

Tons of pictures, with oly 1.7 tcon and kodak 1.4 tcon. Long story shot get the Kodak lens, but check the site for why.

That is an excellent link. It is interesting how the various Tcons match up with the different camera models. Clearly, the Kodak Tcon 1.4 is the best with the P-880.

It is not exactly my thing, but I would imagine that the sucess with the kodak Tcon 1.4 moves the P-880 intothe useable birding camera category.
