That poor old Black Gum has been dead now for many years.A whole host of woodpeckers have had at it! My wife keeps after me to cut it down but it has been the home for a lot of different birds as well as a squirrel playground! I can't really bring myself to cut it down. One stormy night soon nature will take care of it I guess! But you never know Black Gums are a tough tree even when dead!
