Let me know exactly how you do it Bill. I've never had an upgrade offered for the DX6490 so I've never had to do one. But I have a close friend that is trying to upgrade his P850 and another that is trying to upgrade the firmware on his 730.....Oh yeah that's you........anyway the other friend would like to know how you do it!!

Changed folder name to system.

Still no go.

How do I check current version in camera? , maybe I don't need update.

Here's what I did - note I've added some specifics in BOLD

Alsodrag only the program KZ730101.fw,not the file!!
  1. Double-click the file KZ730101.exe to start the WinZip Self-Extractor. [/*]
  2. Select Unzip to folder, and specifythe location C:Kodak [/*]
  3. Click Unzip. The firmware file unzips to C:Kodak [/*]
  4. The unzippedprogramshould beKZ730101.fw in the C:Kodak file now. [/*]
  5. Close the WinZip Self-Extractor.
And then I used Method 1 - Make sure you have the latest ver. of EASYSHARE Software !!!

Method 1 - Again I've put specifics in BOLD

NOTE: The first time you connect your camera to your computer, KODAK EASYSHARE software "Sync and Transfer Setup" or "Sync and Transfer Assistant" prompts appear on-screen. Follow the prompts to setup the camera as a device in the software.

[/*]
  1. Download the latest version of EASYSHARE Software from this site.
NOTE: EASYSHARE Software version 5.x or later must be used during this procedure.

[/*]
  1. Connect the camera to your computer using a USB cable. [/*]
  2. Remove any memory card from the camera. [/*]
  3. Turn on the camera. [/*]
  4. Start EASYSHARE Software. [/*]
  5. Select Tools > Sync and Transfer Manager. [/*]
  6. Select your device from the list in the left column, and then select the Info tab. [/*]
  7. Click Update Firmware, and go to C:\Kodak [/*]
  8. Click on the program KZ730101.fwand copy that file from your computer to the internal memory on the camera. [/*]
  9. Turn off the camera and then disconnect the USB cable from the camera. [/*]
  10. Press the Power button and follow the on-screen prompts. The upgrade can take up to two minutes. When it is complete, the camera will delete the firmware file from internal memory. [/*]
  11. Power the camera off and then back on again. [/*]
And it worked :G

Thomas M.

Do you mean creat a folder C:Kodak rather than system (I want to use method 2)
