These shots are just incredible! I only wish my P850 took pics the way it seems these DX6490s do!! I've had this P850 since December and have yet to get anything close to the clarity of pics I see with the DX6490! I'm wondering if I should have just got that instead but go this for the image stabilization.
Again, those shots are just incredible! And of course it's a lot more than just the camera! Great eye!

Maybe I will get this good with my P850 someday.

The only thing I can say is stunning.

Beautiful shots! How close were you to these eagles? And am I safe to assume that was full optical + Tcon 17?

I took these pictures at a wildlife park near my house:-)

http://www.ecomuseum.ca/home.html

They were taken afew monthsago with my dx6490 at full optical zoom + the tcon (17x)

I use the aperture priority for all my wildlife shots:-)

Ah. That would make sense. You use a low aperture for a blurry background? and a slow shutter speed?

thanks for the info. I'm gonna have to try this when I get my P712! (Still a slight chance I might get a P850)
