Is there any other type of flash besides the P20 that I could use on my P850?

Also I've heard a lot of people say don't buy an off brand lens tube
but what about some of the lens you see on ebay and stuff?

if I were to buy the kodak adapter tube would it really matter about the lens or should I get the kodak ones as well?

I'd like to get a flash and a telephoto/wide angle lens and maybe a few filters

also, does adding on all that stuff like the lens and filiters does that take away picture quality?

First I would stick with the P20, my understanding(someone correct me if I'm wrong) that its calibrated to the Pcams and will adjust automatically as you zoom.
2...definitley the Kodak lens adapter, I've had others and they don't come close , you might save 5bucks but you'll wind up replacing them
3...Theres a lot of junky lenses on ebay, especially teleconvertors and wide angles. Not to say you can't find good deals there as long as you stick with name brands. For filters and close up lens, I use Tiffen brand which is reasonably priced and work pretty well, Hoya is another good brand, B+W is great but pricey. For Teleconvertors and wideangle, Olympus and Kodak are good choices, Raynox is good but pricey.
4....Technically, everytime you add more glass on the lens, something is lost, just like looking thru a double or triple pane window. But I haven't found enough difference to worry about.

Dan

oh almost forgot...stick with 55mm lenses and filters

Sameroad,

you should get the P20 because of the voltage differents in other flashes that might not work right with this camera. plus the P20 is made for this camera and I have really enjoyed using mind. It is auto and manuel so you have some control of the power.

You will need to get the lens adapter that is made for the P850. The lens adapter is a 53mm to 55mm adaptor. The 53mm end screw into the camera.

You can get the oly 1.7 t-con from B&H and if you want it they have the 0.7 w-con also.

I have the ND2 filter, Circular Polarizer, a Spot filter and a hood for the lens. I like my filters exspecially the circular polarizer for richer color and it make the sky bluer. Hope this will help. Maysome one else with a little more infor. will come along and explain it better than I can.

Thanks Richard.

Stay with the Kodak adapter like dan and Richard said! Stay away from those cheap E-Bay lens and filter sets. Kodak and Olympus both offer wide angle lens and teleconvertor lens that will fit the 55mm threads of the Kodak adapter! If your wanting to save money do it on the closeup lens and filters by going with the Tiffen brand as they deliver good quality at a reasonable price! Yes you will lose a little with filters and lens but if they are used for the right purpose they will enhance the photo and give an advantage over not having and using them. As for noticing the loss ..I don't really notice any! I'm sure it's there but I can't seem to tell it!! Plus the filters and lens give me such a plus in my photography that a little loss of sharpness is well worth the trade-off! Just an old man's opinion!

I meant to add that that P20 Flash should be the one to get for the P850! It actually talks with the camera and automatically adjusts as the camera zooms!

I tried to post a reply that was about two pages long and the software here at Steves wouldn't let me! If it shows up later forgive me if it does a double or triple post!

Go here for an explanation of filters...
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ilterIntro.jsp

Go here for help in deciding which filter and how many!
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...hichFilter.jsp

Go here for a useful page on Tiffen Brand filter facts. Also gives a better understanding of filters in general!
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...nFactsComu.jsp

Go here and use the menue on the left hand side to get a good look at the Cokin filter system and it's many uses as well as an understanding of the difference between it an the normal screw on filters!
http://www.geocities.com/cokinfiltersystem/

Go here for a look at the Hoya Brand filters!
http://www.hoyaoptics.com/color_filter/index.htm

I hope these help
