Hi all, :-),

I was lucky enough to get a Kodak P880 for a father's day gift. Until then I have been using my ol' Sony Mavica FD-95 (still a good camera). I am used to being able to reset the file naming once I have download all my images. So far I can not find anywhere on the P880 that allows me to do that. It just keeps counting up.

One feature of the Sony I liked is being able to have the images named in Series or Normal. If the camera was set to series then it continued with the sequence, in normal it would reset. If I reformatted my Memory Stick then the naming was reset.

So far in my P880, I have reformated and the the naming continues to sequence up.

Is there a way to reset the file naming/numbering in the P880?

Also I don't like the EasyShare software, as it is bulky, slow and really doesn't do much. Is there a way to have my PC communicate with the camera using the USB, without it? I can just plug my memory card into one of the ports on my PC to transfer the images. What I do like is the Folder's Options in the P880. So far though I think I need the sofware to do anything with them, correct? If not, how can this be done?

Thank you..:-)

I don't know if the camera has a funtion to change the file naming convention...but I am using a third party software that will sync the P880 and do the downloads.....you do not have to use kodaks eashyshare software....

Unforunately I'm not sure if there is way to reset the camera numbers.

Regarding the easyshare software (which I also hate, lol), I believe that both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements can read the camera without the use of easyshare.

Thank you for responding :-),

I don't have either Photoshop or PS Elements, I use PSP9, and PhotoImpact 11. I've uninstalled Easyshare a couple of times. I think 3rd time will be the charm (for good).
I thought the feature of having albums in the camera would be nice. However if the only way the camera recoginzes them, is with the proprietary software, then I think I'll forego that.

For me just acessing the Kodak site to download or register is terrible. I use DSL, so speed isn't the issue. However I've yet to be able to register my camera with them. I've emailed them, received a response that just directed me back to the same old useless page.

Thanks again for your responses..:-)

I first used Picasa when it was first developed. I think I paid $50 for it. However I have d/l and installed Picasa2, after removing ES. Now my camera is recognized using the USB, and I can Import them using PSP, and Picasa.

Thank you for the tip..:-)
