I shot this spider tonight, using 1.4 zoom, manual focus, without additional lighting to focus with, and no tripod.

Those are some great shots

I was a little apprehensive about getting too close. I don't like those hairy 8-legged pests, so try to keep some distance. Since I could barely even see the one I shot, I thought I was close enough...
