Hello! I know the P712 is pretty new and I don't think it's out yet (though I may be mistaken). I am just wondering if anyone plans on getting one?

Nik it may be a great camera but like all new items it will be overpriced when first released. Take the pricing on the P850 for instance. I first saw it priced at around $500 now you can find them for around $250 or so. Still the same camera but it's value now more accurately reflects it's cost! Just my thoughts..........

I think that for the most part, the P850 is a lot more bang for your buck than the P712 and will be for quite awhile.

I have one on order to arrive on 8/16.
I had the Kodak P7590 which I really liked but the new features, faster auto focus, high speed capture time seem to be worthwhile for outdoor action shots that I like to take of the grandchildren in soccer, and swim meets.

What you say is true bigdawg, with any product in the world.
Is a 2005 Corvette cheaper than a 2006? I believe so.

When new models are released, current models drop in price in order to continue to move inventory off the shelves.

If the P880 suits all your needs, go with it and save a couple of bucks. If you want or
need the features of the the new P712, step up.

My two cents.

I am sure the P850 is a nice camera. I had been looking at that one and the P880 and then noticed the other day on the Kodak site that the P712 is now available also.
To many new models, to close together hehe.
It's specs lured me to it. Faster, more range, stabilization, blah blah.

I am replaceing a Z7590 which was an excellent camera for me. If the new camera is as user friendly and produces equal or better shots, I will be a happy camper.

Nope.
Not until they improve on some low light issues.

I plan to get one to upgrade from my beloved trusty DX6490. On DPR, Rob graham, Kim and one more member has it and photos are great. Its colors are more natural (that means a bit subtle than P850) similar to P880 and it definitely has lot more details with compare to P850 but at the cost of little more noise and both thanks to extra 2MPs on same size sensor.

By the way its available in few shops, I checked it on CNET and pricegrabber. The price is too much for now, so I am waiting for it to go below 400$
