Im Bambino writing from Goa. Had purchased a Kodak P850 camera in January 2006 from Mumbai.

It was working fine till yesterday. This morning when i powered the camera there was no display either on the EVF or the LCD. Just a black screen (blurred picture)

I can Preview the photos and videos I had taken yesterday (stored on the card) , but cannot take new pictures.

I have tried all simple checks given on the manual like memory being full etc but no pictures clicked cannot be previewed nor viewed.

In video mode i am able to capture only sound but no picture is being captured only a dark image.

I have also simultaneously written to Kodak, but as i came across your page thought that if someone else had faced this similar problem might be able to give me some leads.

The firmware im using is 1.0, was wondering if upgrading to 1.01 would help???

Regards.

well yes upgrading the firmware would be a good start so do that, if nothing happens or rectifies i'd suggest you get it checked out.

Hi Bambino,

So sad to hear about your camera. Remove SD card and Battery once wait for few minutes and then place first the battery and try again to shoot. Then replace the SD card and try to shoot again. If this doesnt work, visit on dpreview.com you will find a help there from Kodak personal. I hope Ron would be around on this forum too.

Hi,
I spoke to the Kodak guys in Mumbai they say to send the camera to one of their service centres in mumbai!!

I guess since the camera is under warranty I will send it over to them.

Switching it off didnt help b.t.w. thanks anyways.
