Nice capture! I've found it's rather hard to get fine detail shooting black colored birds! The detail is just swallowed up unless the light is exactly right!

Yes, like dawg said, its very difficult to take pictures of black birds..I think your picture is not too bad!!

If you want, you can adjust the lights in photoshop or any other program to make it look almost perfect:-)

Here is an example after playing with the shaddow/highlight in CS :

Edit: with the full image quality, the bird will look better...
