This is not the true color as perceived by the human eye out in the bright sunlight. I took the pic because of the extraordinarily deep dark almost black hue (if hue is the right terminology) of the flower. As I tried, unsuccessfully, to achieve the true color in Elements I began to really dislike this flower. Now I find it quite ugly. So I present it here among the strikingly picturesque examples not as a peer but rather as a downright ugly, ugly, obstinate, recalcitrant, unforgiving blob. So there!!

Hi, Niki

This is a Bearded Iris. The bearded part comes from the tufts sticking up on the interior of the petals. Sort of like long buds on a tongue.

I really like the colors in thethird one! I have one of those...a straggler that is growing between the neighbor's privacy fence and my cyclone fence. It's an ugly shade of red-ish...
