OK Everyone!

I am an avid Nascar fan and of course sit high in the stands for the races. I bought the Kodak P850 almost a year ago and am very dissapointed with it right now. Whenever I go to a night race I am unable to take pictures, they are all blurred and dark.

Does anyone know a setting that I can use to be able to take pictures at night. My day pictures are absolutly gorgeous, couldn't ask for better, but I really need the night race photos.

Please tell me how to do it as I will save it as a custom setting.

Thanks in advance

You can't really shot night action shots with a camera!!

If you want to take night action shots, I think, it will be better with a DSLR...

Because the p850 for example will lower the shutter speed and can't use high iso settings...

To freez action shot at night you have to put the iso settings very high, use fast shutter speed if possible and use a strong flash!!

...orare the ISO setting and ISO Sensitivity two different things? Forgive me if I'm way off, I'm still a newbie :!:

Steve, I might have understood your post wrong, but the P850 does have a Manual mode that lets you choose ISO.

You can go anywhere between 50 and 400 (or 800 in 1.2MP mode).

You can change the iso sensibility but over 200, you will get some poor results...S I personally think that the p850 is not a camera to shoot night action shots !!

you can remove noise very easily with The Gimp, thanks to En121. Just ask En121 and En121 will tell you. I do not want to give away other people's secrets! So if you absolutely have to shoot ISO 400, then download The Gimp. Ask En121 where to download it, because I don't remember.

P.S. The Gimp is FREE:-)

I had a P850 for about a year. I loved it, especially the zoom. I had problems shooting at night, too. If I recall, it did have the manual mode. I did not play with it enough to figure it out but convinced myself I would be better off with a dSLR. The manual mode on the Kodak will allow you to change to a higher ISO.

That zoom was great for a point and shoot!!!!
