This is a topic to vent my jealousy at Boily and his magical local camera shop.

Well I have one shop in my city that is dedicated to Cameras. So I gave them a call.

First I asked about a lens adapter for my camera, nope, they don't carry them. Okay, thats fair. So then I asked if they had any ND or Macro filters. They stopped carrying filters a few months ago because of the popularity of Digital Cameras. AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE? I have a digital camera... I still want a filter for it.... stupid local camera shop.

Boily, where do you live, I want to move there!!!!:angry::-x:flame::ak47::whack::X:twisted:

I know I am lucky, there is not many ''expertise'' camera shop around everybody's house !!

To go to my camera shop I have to drive downtown montreal and it takes around 25 minutes :-)

And I discovered 2 days ago that there is another one 15 minutes from my home:G

that really sucks morag. At least around me, we've got ritz camera. Overpriced, but they sell the stuff I was looking for and the salesperson knew what I was talking about. $59 for just about any 52mm filter... yeah, they can cost that much but these were the green-glass type hoyas, the same type that usually sell for $15 on ebay...

I know not everyone has the luxury of knowledgable salespeople working at the ritz near them (I've heard some funny stories), but they still carry items that many of us look for!

Do they have ritz (or wolf) in canada?

Morag2 Aug 19, 2006 12:26 AM

I have never seen a ritz or a wolf... so I'm not sure.

That's funny... the Ritz near me isn't that overpriced... or at least I didn't think so... I got a58mm FLD, ND2, and a CPL for $38 (Buy Two, Get One FREE Deal)

Gotta get back out there some time to see if they have a T-Con in 58mm for a decent price.

hey boily what is that thing you put on your lens to stop it getting it scatched or dirty or is that just the teleconverter? :dude:

Boily Aug 19, 2006 11:23 AM

I always put the adapter tube with a skylight filter !!

The skylight filter is only 10$ and don't modify the look of my pictures, so I scrach or crack the filter I change it for an other one ;)
