Went out early this morning to see what was out and about in the desert, This little guy was crossing the trail in front of me, He's a young one only about a foot long total

this is at full digital zoom, the raised area behind the eye is his poison glans when they bite they lock their jaws and then start pumping in the poison into the wound

I got the hoya macro filter set yesterday and they sure do let you get close
this is the barrel cactus flower
