Thanks ronpete!

I really enjoy fire pics. Goes back to that natural fascination humans have of fire, and I want to start experimenting on using it as a lighting source of other objects, the glow it gives is rather unique.

A bit off topic, but it reminds me of a lil' notion I came up with, see if ya'll agree...
"Every able-bodied man, by the age of 18, has somehow or another lit himself on fire."
What do ya think of that one?:x

I'm really glad I used RAW for these, most of the pics came out looking pretty good but with a few adjustments they look great! About the only thing I can't correct for is depth-of-field, kinda hard to tell on the tiny camera screen whether you have good detail in some spots or not!

Taking pics of flames isn't too hard really, it mostly depends on how big the fire is! Small flame(s), use spot-metering and center focus to capture just the shape and the flame's source. For a big ol' bonfire, regular settings w/ a fast exposure and smaller apeture (higher number) will turn some pretty nice results, I'd say the hard part is getting close to the fire without worrying about melting/burning the camera or yourself!

XD That's what a tripod and lots of zoom is for! XDD

Anyway, some very nice shots. Keep it up.

Cheers.

Well for this set I didn't have my tripod, I was using surrounding objects as a brace and a few free-hand.

Very um, ominous... after posting these pics, I found this article:

I haven't been to russia, but I do want to someday, and this was a spot I planned on going to
