Default A-1 Write speed

Can anyone tell me if the A-1 can utilize the faster write times of the SanDisc Ultra compact flash card? Thank you.

Default Write speed test

I did a little test for you using my standard lexar 8x 16mb card and my Apacer 35x 512mb card (i think the ultra card from sandisk is about the same, unless you ment the ultra II card).
These are the results: (both cards are formatted before testing).
I used the red LEDindicator on the back of the DiMAGE A1 to see wetter it's done writing or not. Time is calculated using a stopwatch, so not very precise!

Apacer 35x 512mb

tiff: 16,5 sec
raw: 9,2 sec
x.fine: 3,3 sec
fine 2,5 sec

Lexar 8x 16mb

tiff 18,3 sec
raw 9,5 sec
x.fine 3,4 sec
fine 2,9 sec

As you can see the Apacer card isn't that much faster the the lexar.
Altough when it comes to tiff, it can save you 2 seconds. Well i never shoot tiff, if i need a good quality i shoot RAW. The write speed of the RAW files doesn't seem to make any differences.
The Apacer should be capable of writing at 4,5 mb/s.
My conclosion would be that it makes no sence buying a ULTRA or ULTRA II card, since the A1 cannot even handle the speed of my Apacer i would buy a regular card and save myself 100 dollars or more.

Hope i could be of any help.
