I'm considering getting a tele lense with 46mm threads. I'd have to get a 49mm to 46mm step-down ring, of course. My question:
What kind of vignetting should I expect with this? I imagine the vignetting would be extreme and horrible, since I got a little vignetting using 52mm Quantaray filters (and a 49mm to 52mm step-up ring). I mean, if going up gives me vignetting, surely going down will only make it worse?!?! I use 62mm Quantaray filters with zero vignetting (using a 62mm step-up ring, of course). Thanks! |

I think you have already answered your own question.
But to summarize - yes, I expect the vignetting to be horrible. You might be able to get something useable as you approach the 200mm zoom setting. Declan |
