depending on how many shots you want to get off at once is the issue for sports. shooting in Hi mode/image Size 2560x1920/xtra fine quality(low compression) i can get 8 jpgs off at approx 3 fps (depending on the light before the camera buffers out (64MB) and has to feed the card. then there is a approx a 53s dump to the card before i can shoot again. lower the res and you get more shots per grouping. squeeze off only one or two at a time and you might stay ahead of the buffer. this puts it well above the others in the pack. this is mainly due to a buffer 2x larger than the others in its class at this time (64MB vs 32MB).
the zoom control is much better then the others. it's called your hand. grab the lens barrel zoom helical and turn. just like a regular slr zoom it's manual. much quicker and better reacting then push buttons. also one less motor to trash. the use of a strobe will slow it down due to recycle times in that dept. |
