I don't fault you for comparing Olympus cameras against the Minolta A1/A2's. I have an Olympus C-2100 and bought the A1 at the end of March. I still don't know if I am happy with it.
I *love* the customization possible with the A1, but I miss the Oly's picture quality. I've experimented with the vivid color, +2 contrast and hard sharpness, but images still come out somehow fuzzier and softer than they did on either of my Olympus cameras. It's just different optics and user preferences, I guess. I'm very adept at post-processing, but I miss getting the results I wanted practically unedited, fresh from the card. I've considered selling my A1 outfit and going back to Olympus, but the only Olympus cameras with the (1) zoom (2) megapixels and (3) price I want no longer have any kind of image stabilization. It's sad they discontinued that, because image stabilization is what has made many of my better shots. I really like the A1's anti-shake, tiltable LED and so many of its other features, including the hotshoe external flash capabilities. |
