2500 D or the 3600 HS ( both are Minolta flashes ). Does ADI work with these? Steves review mentions ADI and the onboard flash.

According to the Minolta web site and specs on the 2500D and 3600HS they do support ADI. I have an A200 and did a lot research for an add on flash. What's not clear to me is if the A200 supports ADI. I don't think it does. If you look through the A200 instruction manual it makes no mention of ADI. I downloaded the instruction manual for the A2 and A1, and it's very clear in these two manuals that those two cameras have ADI capability. Based on that info I decided to buy a cheaper flash since the minolta flashes are very expensive, part of which I feel are for features like ADI that aren't supported by the A200. Another is the auto focus assist light, which is not supported by the A200. It is clear that the A200 uses pre-flash TTL, which works fine. There are cheaper flashes that will work in all cameramodes (Program, A, S, M, auto, etc.)with the A200. These include Sigma EF-500 DG ST and EF-500 DG Super, Sunpak PZ40x, Promaster 7500DX (which I bought). These flashes will also support ADI but are cheaper than the minolta flashes. Give us a post if you find evidence that the A200 supports ADI, I'd be interested in knowing how to change the flash mode setting from pre-flash TTL to ADI TTL.

"The manual pop-up flash offers Fill-flash, Red-eye reduction and Rear flash sync modes, it recycles in approximately 5 seconds. The DiMAGE A200 features ADI (Advanced Distance Integration) Automatic flash exposure or you can select Manual mode."
This is a direct quote from Steve's review. He is speaking of the onboard flash though. i am going to buy the 2500 D and & see what happens. I'll post some info once it arrives. Thanks for the above comment. |
