AC adaptor versus memory card reader??

To save the batteries in the S404 when offloading photos from the camera, one has two choices; 1) buy an AC adaptor (Minolta unit costs about $45), or 2) buy a separate memory card reader (about $20). Are there any disadvantages to the card reader approach, particularly with regard to potential wear on the pins in the camera body from repeated removal/reinsertion of the CompactFlash card? Or is this a non-issue? Does Minolta have any advice on this?

I think it's wise to have both bases covered with a card reader and an AC adapter. The advantage of a card reader is you can fill one card, swap it can keep shooting. An advantage if you are in the studio shooting RAW files that fill up the cards fast and you don't have ultra high capacity like a microdrive.
