I own a Dimage Xt, and I'm considering replacing it with an X50. Though I love the Xt, a big gripe I have with it is that it does not allow me to connect it to my PC unless it is in the charging cradle.
I can't find a reference to this in any X50 reviews, so I'm hoping this issue is resolved. Can anybody confirm that I can move data from an X50 to a PC with only a USB connection, rather than needing a power connection AND the USB connection? Thanks. |

Have a look here. http://konicaminolta.com/products/co...ge-x50/06.html
It appears that you can connect directly to a usb on your computer, there doesn't seem to be any mention of a docking cradle ![]() Stevekin. |

I noticed that information on their web site, too. The ain't definitive enough for me, though. The Xt marketing literature actually says the same thing, even though you need the cradle in order to connect to the pc.
http://konicaminolta.com/products/co...ge-xt/b/b.html Thanks, though. I guess I'll wait until some more folks own and post around the internet about the X50, to buy mine. |

Try here, http://www.minoltaeurope.com/magic_f...nguage=english
Downloadowners manualguide pdf file for the X50. Again it seems to show connection without the cradle & no mention of the cradle, whereas the pdf file for the Xt does show the cradle being used during connection. Hopefully this means you don't need to use it or KM is just getting a little lax with their info. Fingers crossed. Stevekin. |

The X50 doesn't even have a cradle option so no worries. YOu can see the I/O ports on pg2 of our review:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_...gex50_pg2.html The USB or A-V cable plugs right into the side of the camera. The battery is charged in an external charger, not in the camera. No cradle port on bottom either. |

Sorry to drag this out further, but i had emailed Konica Minolta before steve gave you the definitive answer. So i thought you might be interested in the response.
My question ; "Steve Kinnersley" on 19/10/2004 16:53:39 To: < cc: Subject: Info on Dimage X50 Hello, could you please tell me if you can connect the Dimage X50 to the computer via USB without having to use the docking/charging cradle, as you do with the Dimage XT. Thank you, The answer; Thank you for your enquiry. The X50 connects directly to the PC via the USB cable. The Xt connects in exactly the same way. The charger is only used for charging the battery, not for PC connection. Bernard Petticrew Technical Support Manager Konica Minolta Photo Imaging (UK) Ltd Milton Keynes Office Of course there seems no doubt that the X50 does what you want it to do, but confusion over your current model, Xt. Ah well, go buy & enjoy. Stevekin. |
