Hi, newbie here in the UK.

I have an A2, very pleased with it, but I am interested in some close up stuff. I seem to be confused by macro lenses and close up lenses........

It's close up work on electronic circuit boards that I mainly want to do, with a bit of mooching about the garden snapping flowers and bugs and things.

I don't want to spend a fortune so do any of you nice folks have suggestions what to buy or some websites to go look at.

How close do you want to get?
I do a lot of closeup stuff and so far I haven't found the need for additional lenses for my A2.
The attached photos (highly compressed) were taken with macro in the telephoto mode.
I would suggest saving your money until you become more familiar with your A2.
I guess you could go out and by a Canon S2 IS which focuses down to ZERO ( just kidding).

Thanks for the responses guys, really appreciated.

I am using the Tele/macro to it's extent at the moment, and I am quite familiar with the A2 and all it's functions after 6 months use, but I need to get closer than the bug images.

I currently haveextreme close-up (can look at the hairs on the bugs legs but not mobile) and 3D x-ray (kills bugs) but there is a gap between the A2 and the extreme that I need to cope with.

Iwill look at the link suggested.

I have purchased a set of close-up lenses from fleabay for £14.99

If they are rubbish I've only lost pocketmoney so worth a go. I will let you know if they are any good in about a weeks time.

That's something I hadn't heard of before. I'll see how I get on with the ones I have bought first though.

Quick example of a prettyinexpensive close up lens, +4 from Jessops in the UK. Cost £10 (1bout 14Euro) on an A200.

Bathroom spider was about 1cm overall. This is a crop of raw.

Cheers
