Here's a link to my pbase gallery with some sample pics for my new S414. These were taken by a complete amateur (me) on the first day, right out of the box. So any flaws in the pics are most likely due to my inexperience. But thought I would post them for anyone looking for sample pics.

Thanks for the pix. I've been looking at this camera.
BTW, how is the focusing in low light? I have a Casio 3500 that has a problem focusing in low light. I'm still waiting for a review on this model. |

I probably haven't used the camera enough in low light conditions to give you a complete answer. But my initial response would be that it seems to handle it pretty well. I've taken several shots indoors and have yet to have the camera not focus.

Normal Indoors is fine. I'm interested in a situations like a birthday party where all the lights are our except the candles or when you're in a resturant where the lighting is dim.

I have not had any focusing problems so far, though I haven't tried it in any of the "low light" situations alzap described. To me, it's a good camera for the money (should be able to get it in the $350 neighborhood with shipping). While I'm just an amateur without that much experience, it's fitting all my needs.

good to hear that the focusing problems are gone. Now the only thing is the low light situation. The Canon A70 has only 3X optical and a 3megapix CCD for about the same price. But it has auto focus assit light to help focus in low light situations. Which is enough for me to pick over the S414.
Other Pluses: Minolta S414 Remote Control, 4MP, 4X optical Canon A70 Under Water Case-Optinal, F2.8 Lense, 640 x 480 movie with audio |
