so i guess no one really knows of any differences (build quality/asthetics/DOA rates) for z1's or z2's built in either Japan or Korea?
I read somewhere someone had heard of differences, but didn't describe what they were. From what i can deduce so far, the earlier models were made in japan and then later, korea took over production. Would the later models have an advantage with bugs sorted etc? |

My X20 was "made in indonesia" also. I know this is statistically insignificant to draw any conclusions from but I already sent it in for warranty service; no image on screen, the rest of the cam works fine, I think the CCD just crapped out. Not impressed with the quality, but again it could be a fluke. BTW it broke in just 8 months, or about 3,300 pictures. |

My z1 was made in Korea...
Strange how much stuff seems to either be made in S.Korea or Taiwan these days... As far as quilty goes I've had nothing but problems with this Camera the current z1 in my possesion is in fact the second one. The first Camera had a major LCD pixel falure I only first noticed it as I was trying to soot the Moon. Last December while on my way to the local anual Christmas festival here in Frankfurt Germany. I was going to try out the Cameras' NightMode. Sadly that was ona Saturday, Thesaid Camera went right back to the Store the following Monday, and was replaced. Sadly I neverbotherd to find out where it was made. The Second Camera fairedslightly better though. I didn't notice anything with the Camera till it was to late. Normaly we have aTwo Week window to return defective or ineffective products for a Cash return. There was some Dust?! Gunk stuck behind the Main Focusing Lenswhich led to a little dead pixel (i.g. Blocked), on the LCD and Photos taken. I had to send this Camera back to KM here in Germany funny thing is KM never gave me a RMA Number. Ok My fault I never asked for one but, I would hav thought that the KM People would be more professional then that! Well after about Two Weeks I got it back and it's fine for now... |

Mine was made in Korea, and bought in Spain.
No problems until now. Let's trust in the quality controls... Edited: Sorry, it's a Z2, bought in february 2005. |

My Z3 was made in China. Bought in the USA. Works just fine. Is there any concern where these cameras are made. I have always heard that China has the best quality control of any country.
