Yes, auto with redeye on & off, also used with manual F Stop and got the same results. Z3 now returned for a refund due to Lcd/Viewfinder noise problems. ISO was set at 100 for all shots.

phaedra1106, what is the first digit of the serial number of your Sigma EF500 DG super flash ?
5 means it's an older flash, fully compatible with the D7 series. 6 means it's a newer flash, compatible with the A series cameras. |

3 ? Well, if what other people say about the serial numbers is correct, your flash is an older vintage. So it's compatibility to the Z3 camera would be low.
The 6 serial series flash are said to be fully compatible with the A1, but the A1 is an "old" camera. From what I can gather from looking at manufacturers' web pages, a fully compatible flash for the Z series cameras are still in the works. Minolta seems to have purposely programmed the Z series NOT to be compatible with anything but their own Minolta HS(D) flashes. Even the PCT100 adaptor to use older three pin Minolta flashes, doesn't work on the Z series but will work on the A series cameras. Question: phaedra1106When did you buy this flash ? |

November2003 from B&H
It should befully compatible, it works perfectly on my 7Hi and was picked up straight away on the Z3. I had a 500 EF Super before this with my Minolta 35mm and that def. didn't work with the 7Hi, which is why I bought the new one. |

November 2003 ? From what I've learned, it's ancient technology by now.
Seriously, people have reported the 5 serial number flash to work on the D7 series camera, but one or two functions don't work on the A series. Now with the 6 serial number flashes, everything is fine.... for the A series camera people. For the Z series camera owners, we just have to wait a bit more....... |
