Is there an adapter available that can be used on the Hot shoe of my D7 so that I can use the older non-dedicated flashes like my old reliable Vivitar 283?

That's the Minolta PCT-100 , put on top of the hotshoe, you then got a pc-sync terminal , the equivalent connection as the D7Hi offers now.

What you are looking for is the FS-1100 (I think is the Minolta part number), and considerably cheaper than the PST-100. It provides a standard hot shoe mount, but no PC connection.
The D7 is small and your vivitar 283 rather large, by comparison. You might want to consider an L-bracket to mount your vivitar on. Just a thought. Declan |

Take a look here :

Since the Vivitar has various version, it’s better to check yourself the trigger voltage of yours before using the FS-1100. a ~~200V would fry the D7 electronic for sure. |

KCan, Does that mean the 7Hi can use any other flash in the market? What is the most economical flash that has pc-sync terminals? Thanks Saw |

The basic answer is Yes, however, the D7Hi has a builtin PC sync terminal, and so does not need the PCT-100 (it provides ONLY a PC sync terminal).
The Minolta FS-1100 hot shoe adaptor (no PC sync terminal) will allow standard hot shoe flashes to work on the D7 series cameras. Declan |
