Flash vs. ISO

Trying 'fill flash into a dark corner of an black wrinkle finish equipment cabinet about 2 ft. from camera.
Would going to ISO 400 help?

Can you take the 'black wrinkle finish equipment cabinet' outdoor?

You haven't told us what the problem is, just what you're trying to do. It would really help if you told us what camera you were using, what settings and gave an example of what results you got.

FWIW I'd guess the black cabinet is coming out too dark. Setting to ISO 400 won't change the exposure. You'll need to change exposure compensation if your camera has that. Setting it to a +1-2 value may help if that is the problem.

With the D7i use a tripod, ISO 100, and manual exposure. Just dial shutter speed until you get the look you want through the EVF (NOT the LCD). Try a fixed light or two (even a flashlight will work fine) from different angles to show up the finish and bracket the exposures.

Flash will give you flat lighting and shadows. I don't think you'll like the results.
