Hey Doug,
Try these URL's. I have not tried any of these resellers personally... but each one has a good to excellent rating on BIZRATE.com or on PRICEGRABBER.com. I have read the reviews of each of these companies and they all seem legit. BUT BEFORE I ORDERED FROM ANY OF THEM, I'd call and ask if it was a USA market camera with a USA warranty and if it was brand new and in the original box. Happy shopping and shooting! http://www.digitaletailer.com/shop/S...r&STK=DIMAGE7i http://www.butterflyphoto.com/viewit...g=pricegrabber http://www.ephotoclub.com/viewitem.p...RefTag=bizrate http://www.ibuydigital.com/main.cfm?...id=1313&com=10 http://www.dbuys.com/index.cfm?http:...id=1313&com=10 |

Hey again Doug,
Don't buy any grey market product. AND CHECK EACH JOINT OUT FOR THE SHIPPING COST! I have bought computer stuff off the net for years and the shipping cost on these camera sites are GENERALY a RIPOFF. I'd crap a brick if I had to pay $40 for shipping for something as light as a camera package and don't let them tell you it's because of insurance (what a load of sh*t). I have bought computer hardware that costs just as much, and is just as heavy weight wise as this camera and paid as little as $12 shipping for 3 day select FedEX. Like the song says "My Momma told me.......it pays to shop around" Don |

Thanks, I'll give those links a check out. But I was hoping to check out the source you used too, since you got a good price and you're happy with the end result.

Hi Patrick:
You didn't say where in asia you were heading (asia is a very very big place). I live in Bangkok Thailand and if I can help with anything or answer any specific questions, I 'd be glad to help. Declan |

Nepal - haven't been there yet. Hope the political situitation has settled down.
Cheap hotels in Bangkok? Well, depends on your definition of cheap. It is fairly easy to find hotel rooms for 1000 baht or less. Any preferences for area? I know a few in the Nana area. The Nana hotel is just under 1100 baht and is a fairly nice hotel. Good AC, nice buffet breakfast and close to all the night life. But they are usually very busy, so you would need to make a reservation, which you can do over the internet. (This would be my #1 recomendation) There is also the Grace hotel and Majestic Suites in the same area, and both advertise rooms under 1000 baht. The Raja Hotel at 700 baht, but I really cannot recommend that one. All of these within easy walking distance of the nightlife. If you do come, try to spend a few days in Bangkok. I'd be happy to show you around a bit, if I am available - I travel around a lot. The exchange rate is about 42 baht to the US$. Declan |

Their price on the 7Hi is $1024.98 delivered. It's not worth the extra $415 to me,but I guess if you've got the $ and need the extra features....... |

That site you listed has a HORRIBLE reseller rating. between 650-700 is closer to what you would have to pay for a shop with better ratings. And 1000 for the 7hi. Ive been trying to decide between the two. The extra buffer doesn't just help in raw. It helps with continuous shooting as well. Example, in uhs mode, you can take 9 shots @7fps at best jpeg compression with the 7i, you can take i think 57 @7fps at best jpeg compression (and superfine is almost comparable to tiff) with the 7hi.
I would really like the 7hi as it has amazingly fast prefocus speeds (as fast as dslrs) and very fast manual focus speeds as well, plus the nicer buffer. The color issue is nice since i expect to do a lot of post preduction work in photoshop anyway. And the flash sync terminal has absolutely no draw for me. But 300 bucks is a lot for those few features. |

You're right. Since posting, I've discovered that Directsource is to be avoided, although I was unable to find any reviews on them. Another forum poster expressed his displeasure with their methods, and it was obvious then, that their price on the 7i was too good to be true. I ended up buying my 7i from NWV Direct for $645, and was very satisfied with their service.
