Does anyone know, how to compress movie files to a size which is handable for emails? At the moment a one minute movie has about 19mb. It would be great to bring the size down to 4 or 5mb. Does anyone can suggest how to do that?

There is a shareware program called TMPEGenc

that, along with the plug-in 'QTreader.vfp'

will make mpegs out of your .mov file.
Works flawlessly for me. Just make sure to set the frame rate to 15fps

Using Tmpgenc you can get >50% file reduction by using Settings:

Video:
Mpeg-1
320X240
4:3 NTSC
15fps
Constant bitrate 1150

Audio:
Mpeg-1 LayerII
44100 HZ
Mono
32kbs

You will find that the video and the audio are still very good in the Mpeg version. You can also set the Constant bitrate to 650kbs ( a >75% file reduction) with still great pix quality on the computer monitor.

There are also a lot of low cost (entry level) video editing programs which will do this. The video editors will allow much more control over what you do with your movie.
If you have XP, I think micro$oft has now bound, I mean bundeled, a video editor into the OS.
One thing to look for in a video editor is that it can output MPEG1 files without additional addins.
