'Hung' D7i

Recent scary moment. The D7i would not shut off - the LED remained on for a very long time. I took a chance and opened the battery compartment. Thankfully it reset and operated ok when the batteries were reconnected. (Hung up microdrive, or firmware?)

If I remember right, this was fixed in the firmware update. If you shoot then preview then preview a second time it would hang, or something to that effect. Mine did it a few times but not after I flashed the firmware update.

Thanks KenE. Guess I missed hearing about the firmware update. I look into it.

Thankfully it still functions (whew)

Stopped it by opening battery compartment. Put in microdrive and it shoots and views photos ok. I used a 16M CF card formatted in the camera per Minolta instructions with the 'dsc.app' & 'ram.bin' files.

For some reason, it won't upgrade properly. (LED starts flashing 5 sec after the process begins. - goes on endlessly for tons more than 2 minutes. )

Are the files copied to the root directory? ( not in the DCIM directory)
Are you using a Mac ?
